change landline from BT- cost

I want to change the landline with BT- only used for internet, all calls via computer.

Read on ML that Primus is the best, but reading the forum it is being slated

Therefore who is the best/cheapest, with plusnet for internet- quite happy with them except for admin charge- but been with them for 4-5 years

I assume you only want to change to save on the line rental.

BT's cost is now £13.90/month and, if you moved to Primus, you'd save £7.11/month.

Is it worth the hassle and risk for 23p/day?
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I'm currently in the same position as yourself, and although I loathe BT, I'll probably be sticking with them on the £120 pre-paid option mentioned in this article.

We need caller display, and by the time you factor that in with Primus, they're about the same price. Plus you get weekend calls with BT - though we don't use them apart from the two a month you are contractually obliged to make.

I’m not sure about Primus but I think most if not all other provider will not allow you to use another ISP on their line.
