New Homes Mortgage services - What to look out for?

We are due a visit from a representative from New Homes Mortgage Services. Is there anything we should be looking out for from them? They charge a fee of £250 for full financial advice and £99 for an application, just wondering which is best?

We are hoping to be part of the FirstBuy Scheme with Taylor Wimpey and they are one of the panels that they have to deal with for the government scheme.

Any other things to watch out for?

Remember what momma said....there ain't no such thing as a free lunch....

Seriously, there is allot of money to be made in the property business and there is precious little stopping sharks. Read the contract twice before you agree to anything and then take it to an independent solicitor and have it verified. Don't trust anything you are told until you see it in writing. Have your sceptical glasses on at all times and paper and pen handy. If anything looks hinky, walk away, don't stop and don't look back. It's a buyers market so there are literally plenty of fish in the sea.

Cheers, we've made notes of everything so far. The sales advisor for Taylor Wimpey said to question any hidden charges if they start trying to apply any. So once they have seen the evidence and spoken to us, then we can find a solicitor to check it over I presume.

You can use any mortgage adviser you choose. If you don't want to use NHMS, don't use them. Wimpeys can huff and puff, but they can't force you.

There are plenty of other advisers on the Orbit HomeBuy panel, for example;-

  • Just wondered how you got on with new homes as I am also due to meet with them for the same scheme through taylor wimpey? I sit true they charge nearly a £1000 fee just to process the mortgage application?
