Aye they should all have the cross brace to keep the sides together as you say. They are normally concealed with nice UPVC surrounds.
Weight for me though again is a good thing. It's a solid build, more an extension than a temporary structure.0 -

An extension - exactly :beer:, mine is all plastered, with a proper corner sofa (no wicker please!) underfloor heated and the floor height matched to the house, its accessed via a 3 panel folding door with a low profile rail, to all purposes our lounge is a useful 4.2 metres longer.0 -

Also please consider if you have a fire and are trapped in a room with its window above the conservatory, would you be able to escape that room? Reminds me, I need to get one of those escape ladders for the 'office' room as I dont fancy jumping out onto the glass conservatory roof!
More good points, thank you - I hadn't thought of these either.
Hmmm. Lots to think about....0 -
no, they are actually in between the two pieces of glass in the sealed unit. Never need cleaning and retract by remote control so you can hardly see them. Heres a link;

These are well cool - I like them!
Has anyone used these fr a conservatory roof? Seems like the answer to the solar glare problem. I suspect that it might be rather more expensive then my simple remote-controlled canopy/awning idea though....0
