Morning all and welcome to the newbies :)

Much better day today and I've got a line of washing out.

I've completely cleaned the kitchen/diner, including inside all the cupboards which were beginning to look a bit muddly. Living room all done, also computer desk in hallway and vauumed all up the stairs.

Having a sit down now to let my back recover a bit. I'm hoping to go through bedroom drawers soon although I don't really think there's much to sort out.

Book holiday time for home visit in September and November September requested, can't request November until after sister's next scan, she may have c-section, meaning can visit earlier.
Check and book flights for home visit in September and November

    Ok, that's a start.
My SIL recommended putting a bowl of water, with some lemon in it, in the microwave oven and turning up full until the water is boiling, as this will apparantly steam clean the inside. However, does anyone know if I need fresh lemons, or will lemon juice (the kind you get for pancakes) suffice? (cos, you know, I got the juice).
Now I just need to decide on what to have for dinner. Mmmmm.

any lemon will do (or indeed lime) or just the water. Allow to boil then leave the door shut for a while

    BUT READ THIS IT'S IMPORTANT

it is possible for water to super-heat in a microwave. This means it doesn't boil and gets hotter than boiling point. If you touch a vessel containing super-heated water it can then ALL boil instantaneously and will scald. The presence of a lemon wedge/slice would avoid this. Just allow it to cool if this happens. Don't touch it, don't open the microwave.

If you buy whoopsied lemons, and slice and freeze them for use in your G&T you will always have lemon available for micro cleaning ;)

(Other liquids can also super-heat. I know about this cos I used to be a lab tech)

  • OK, in my HHC I did the following:

    * De-cluttered the hall floor, desk, and little table.
    * From hall, put everything in its place downstairs and left 3 neat little piles on the stairs (one per room) for when I next go up (if I went up during the HHC I would have got distracted and I had a plan...)
    * Found a list of jokes for my Dad that I had been looking for, wrote a quick note and popped in envelope.
    * Wrote two birthday cards for friends this week
    * Found a peg (put it in pegbox), 2 pins (put in sewing box) a hairgrip of DD's (put in my hair) and one faux diamond earring :( there should have been 2 on the shelf...
    * Looked at how mucky it was under the hall mat and put it back for now :rotfl:

Well I'm sure I did more, it doesn't look much, but I'm pretty pleased.

    My list looks like this:
Monday - Sitting Room and Hallway
    Level One
Open the windows and turn on some music! ALL WINDOWS OPEN BUT NEIGHBOUR IS SITTING IN HER GARDEN (VERY CLOSE) AND WILL NOT APPRECIATE MUSIC!

    Oooh, my strikethroughs have gone

I have a few little froggies and a couple of BIG SCARY ONES - will report back later.

Hello all; I'm in for a spot of very gentle fluttering this week (5 and 10 min challenges at most) because my lupus is giving me a very hard time just now.:( Thanks for the lists!:o

Valli many thanks for the info on super-heated liquids - I didn't know that! Luckily I always have slices of lemon in the freezer, as I have them in my tea in preference to milk.:o

I've given Louie a nice long walkies this morning (he'll take as many walks as he's offered!) and am just looking at the list - I think I'll post'n'delete again, so that I can better see what I still need to do.;)

May leave the smoke alarm test til tonight, when I can get Mr LW to take Louie out in the garden for a few minutes, as I know it'll start him off yapping if he's indoors when I test it.;) I can't believe he only has two more nights staying with us - it's gone very quickly!:o

    Anyways - Listy:
Monday - Sitting Room and Hallway
    Level One
Open the windows and turn on some music! Windows yes, but I'll pass on the music, ta.
Vacuum floors and sofas! Done by Mr LW:A
Declutter the chairs, floor and top of any cupboards! N/A – there's no clutter!:p
    Level Two
Vacuum under any furniture you can.. please don't injure yourselves! Done by Mr LW:A
Sort out coats, shoes and bags N/A – they're all away in their places:p
Clean any ornaments, glass, mirrors, pictures etc
    Level Three
    Check those smoke alarms!
Wipe sofas, paintwork and dusty places
HHC in the hallway.. vacuum floors/stairs, wipe paintwork, fling that junk mail!.. if there is a charity shop bag.. FILL IT!
Empty and wash out vacuum cleaner.. don't forget filters! Done by Mr LW at weekend; it's a bagless Mr Dyson, and he cleans it after vacuuming the bungalow each weekend.:A
    Extras

    1. Catch up on some calls/emails
    2. Binbag dance
    3. Clean switches and sockets
    4. Wipe the windows in these areas

Yes you can (I do, frequently) They can be cooked straight from frozen and just give them a minute or two longer in the oven. DD breakfasted on frozen, whoopsied croissants today!
