Definitely worth a visit if you have one near by - they have lots of goodies in the chiller cabinets, usually short dated, but I have had bargains on Muller yoghurts e.g. 5 for £1 , Ocean Spray juices 1L e.g. 2 for £1 etc.
Like all these shops though you have to keep popping in when you can to see what they have available and not be disappointed if there's nothing you want at that time - just save the pennies for next timeYesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift - the present.0 -
For those of us with no Heron's nearby Lidl, Iceland, Nisa, Spar & most proper butchers shops all sell bacon mishapes at similar prices. Alternately they can be purchased online from Rosspa.
Check for small bones before cooking them, it is much easier to remove any small pieces of bone whilst you are trimming unwanted fat than it is to remove them after the bacon is cooked0 -
Heron is great. You can often get spread like the Flora Pro-Active, Utterly Butterly or others for so much less than a normal supermarket, usually it's less than a £1 in ours. Ours also often has juices and yoghurts on offer for less than £1. They did have the free range eggs for a while but no longer. Crisps, buscuits and tea & sugar are often much cheaper as well. There Garlic Bread baguettes used to be really nice and 69p for two but they've changed and aren't as tasty now!0

Sainsburys also do the bacon like this- labelled cooking

Nothing to do with bacon but they sell absolutely lovely balti pies at Heron Foods - apparently they are the same ones sold at football grounds, and the same ones they sell at the Morrisons pie counter. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0
