  • this is not a dongle - this is a wireless usb adaptor for use with a wireless router

you should get a dongle from a provider such as o2, vodafone probably as they subsidise the cost of the dongle generally

Sorry perhaps I used the wrong phrase, I have a wireless router but am unable to connect wirelessly and I have been posting a lot on techie stuff about this, but I am now giving up on ever getting my internal wireless working so I am going to try a USB Wireless adapter. Is this whwt I need?

What make and model of router are you connecting to? In theory any 'n' or 'g' router will connect with any 'n' or 'g' adapter, but in practice it can be better to use the same brand.

How many threads do you intend to start on the same issue??

You have not properly installed your original Wireless LAN driver. Disregarding this for the moment, a PCMCIA card (as suggested in one of your other threads) is a better option for you as it leaves your USB ports free.
Lastly, yes the Edimax EW-7622UMn shown should work for you as long as your system is fully updated.
