Paint for outside bench?

Hi there
I have got a wooden bench in my garden that I want to paint shiny, lipstick red.
All the outdoor woodstain I see in B&Q etc. are all brown, blue or green and matt. I was wondering where I can get some shiny, bright red paint that will protect my bench outside? Surely this sort of wood stain must exist- people paint their front doors all sorts of colours!
Thanks, K

Wood stain and paint are two different things. Front doors are painted not stained - if you want a red bench you will likely have to use an exterior gloss that you have made up in the colour you want - e.g. dulux tailor made gloss for one - other colour mixing services are available!!
There are a couple of red wood stains (in the cuprinol range) may be a few more suppliers but it's not an oft chosen colour so they won't manufacture the colour you want for off-the-shelf stock as it may never get bought0 -
Thank you so much for the reply, Tizer!
I'm going to sound completely dumb now, but can I paint the bench using front door paint? Or would this not offer enough protection? What about treating the bench with wood preserver (Cuprinol have one in their range) and then painting shiny red over the top?
As ytou can tell, I'm a complete novice here!'I can't deny the British influence on my accent and mannerisms, but I don't know the British national anthem, I didn't weep for Princess Diana and I always cheer when Britain loses at sport. That's how British I am' Constantine-Simms. :T

"Front door paint" is just exterior gloss - can be used on all exterior woodwork. If you are using exterior gloss you will need to use an exterior undercoat suitable for wood.
Generally mixing stains and gloss is not a good idea.
But before you start is your bench smooth wood or rough? If it's rough, you aren't going to get a good finish using gloss. You will have to use a stain of some type so will likely be restricted in the colour you can get.0 -
Just found this on a google for red wood stain
http://www.protekwoodstain.co.uk/by-colour/poppy-red-wood-stain
with all wood stains, it won't be shiny like gloss but it will be far easier to paint with - gloss can be tricky if you don't know what you are doing. I have no experience with protek so don't know what it's like. If you do google, ensure the one you decide on is suitable for exterior wood0
