Crete

Have narrowed it down to Crete but am looking for a holiday in Greece for next summer. We want an apartments or 2 studios for a family of five.We want to be located a short walk to both beach and restaurants etc, but are not interested in noisy clubs and nightlife.

We are looking for a quiet beach holiday but will want a few sightseeing days. Obviously would like to get good deals but more important I wanted to know if anyone has any favourite places to stay in Crete. Oh and not more than an hour transfer from the airport, but that's a bit flexible.3* or above.Self Catering. Thanks

I can highly recommend Mike's Apartments, right on the beach in Maleme. I stayed there a couple of years ago and it really was as good as the tripadvisor reviews suggest. Maleme is a lovely unspoilt resort with lots of traditional tavernas but no noisy nightlife. It is within easy reach of Chania airport and there's lots of sightseeing to do in Western Crete.

We enjoyed the resort of Stalis when we went to Crete ,however that was 10+ years ago and things have a habit of changing but it was a lovely place then.

I can second Stalis, went about 6 years ago and at the time it wasn't too busy, but there's enough shops & restaurants there to keep you going for a week or two.

Stalis is a great place to go, we have been going there for the last 4yrs, And allways stay in the same apartments called the KONI there is abit of a hill up to them, but they are nice and clean and the staff are great...
Very nice beach with plenty of shops and places to get something to eat..
