Hi as this is more of a shopping question I've moved the thread over to the Shop but don't drop board where you should get some help.

There is a thread on this over on the christmas board if you want to have a look
I'l be doing Tesco stamps again this year - I know I won't get any interest but like you I tend to spend any savings I have lying around... And let's face it if I don't spend it in December to get my free £1 then I can always use them any month to buy other stuff like the voucher cards they doDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! I do tesco saving stamps. I have a rule that I have to buy one every single time I go into tescos : it makes me really consider if I want to go in for that one item (which might turn into a basketful & cost me much more) so I plan my grocery shopping more carefully in teh first place, and it means I have something torwards christmas.
The upsides are
you can spend them anytime you like, so if an unexpetedly hard month pops up you can spend them like cash in there
You get a £1 bonus for each £49 of stamps you spend in december which generally equals out the interest (ish)
Tescos are fairly reliable & unlikey to go bust/refuse the stamps etc
It's a easy peasy way to save for Xmas
The downsides are
You can ONLY spend them in Tescos (well, Doh!) so if you switch supermarkets you are stuck with them
You only get the £1 bonus for every £49 spent and then ONLY in december, so if you spend your stamps sooner or less than £49 you have lost the equlivent of the interest
For me the deal breaker is the last point on the upsides list, but there is no doubt there are more money effective ways of saving for Xmas but this isn't a bad one IMHO;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
i do tesco stamps too, in fact i gave both of my grown up sons and daughters in law a full card each as part of their christmas pressent and they have all loved spending them, one bought things for thier new house and the other was very clever and bought lots of pressies in the tesco sale for gifts for next year. (thats also what i did with the two cards i had too)
so go for it you never miss the £1 coins and if they are in the bank or jar they would be spent or swallowed up in other household expenses.
hope this helps
regards

I'm sure you're not all as daft as me but I'll warn you all anyway.
Make sure you keep your savings stamp card at home. About 5 years ago my handbag was stolen and inside it was my Morrisons (could have been any store that does the stamps) savings card with about £70 saved on it.
I have saved stamps since then but I kept the card at home and stuck the stamps on it when I got home.
