My 13yr old son purchased a pair of sunglasses from a small shop on the Cornish Coast on our last day. The first pair he picked up had a missing part of the arm but the shopkeeper got another pair out from the stock in the drawer. £19.99! I did say to him that I wouldn't spemd that but it was his own money. On the way home, to Yorkshire, he noticed 2 small chips and a crack. Unfortunately I did not examine them in the shop as he put them on straight away. I can also vouch that he had not dropped them.
What can we do? I have the phone number of the shop on the receipt. Any ideas please.

Sadly I suspect this will be the case. There will be no realistic way to prove the damage occurred before you left the shop with them.0 -

Just an idea....phone them?0 -
Just to clarify, he put them on and wore them, but did not notice the crack and the chips until later?
I think even if you bought these locally you would have trouble getting a refund or replacement as having worn them without noticing the damage it seems likely to be difficult to prove the damage was there at time of purchase. Possibly worth a phone call though in case shop is aware the batch was faulty.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Not strictly correct as the SOGA puts the burden of proof on the retailer to prove that the item was not defective within the first 6 months of purchase.0
