There is such conflicting advice, the NHS say 'usually recommended' which isn't really clear. Reading the Times of India last week it said Malaria has fallen 95% since 2007 and now Indian nationals are no longer advised to use prophylaxis.
Then again I have a friend who has lived in the North for over 10 years and never used Anti Malarials.
Clarity is what is required.0 -
absolutely. It only takes one day you know to catch it. There is a long imformative thread on

We have spent many winters in Goa and have never taken them but are careful - going indoors at dusk - netted windows etc etc. but met a lady who contracted it in Goa and personally know 4 Goans who have been hospitalised with Malaria.0

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES (GOA, That's were the OH caught Malaria)
Unless you are there for a long time, taking the tablets for too long causes problems.0 -
I go to Goa every year. On an evening, you are guaranteed to be bitten by the blood suckers, but with some good mozzie spray you should be fine. I personally don't take the Malaria tablets, because they are bound to cause you some problems when it comes to digestion. And btw, Varca is a coastal town
