Mouldy ceiling

We have a small en-suite shower room and the ceiling above the shower is starting to get mould growth.I am going to have the ceiling replaced and wanted to know if there is anything i can treat the new ceiling with to prevent it happening again.

Clean it with bleach diluted or mould killer and then paint with bathroom/kitchen emulsion. Cost around £18 for 2.5 litres (Dulux) or get Wilkos own for £13 it suppose to last up to 5 years, assuming there is no under lining problems ie roof

Might be wise to have windows open when bathing/showering or get a extractor fan

Easy to replace them I got one last year had no mould appear after. I use the bathroom paint too and lined the walls so far after a year no mould. Extractor I got is better than old one and stays on for 15-20 minutes after bathing, very easy to replace as I had a previous extractor fan whcih was very old and yellow, yuck, its also now flush with the wall unlike the old one. I had to have a timer thing in loft though, electrician did it when he was also doing some other work

The extractor is only a year old but it is useless, when you hold a piece of toilet paper up it hardly moves and the flexi duct is clear so no blockages. The ceiling is coming down anyway so more soundproofing can be installed(ground floor flat)but i will try the paint afterwards.
