They will eventually contact you to replace your meter, and when billing you will estimate on your previous usage in the same period. You won't get away with not paying, and their estimate will be more than you've probably used. It makes sense to get a true reading as soon as you can.0

We're in the same position as the OP, but with British Gas (solar PV fitted at beginning of May and meter has gone backwards by 125 units since reading in mid-April) - but not sure how they're going to work out previous usage for us, as we only moved into this house towards the end of this quarter last year, and were with a different supplier at that time anyway.0 -

No, the previous usage is irrelevant, any claim for repayment should be based solely on 50% of the power you have generated because the meter has still been recording your ACTUAL net usage

As a matter of interest what proportion of your generated output are you exporting? and the size of your system please.0 -

Further to Cardew's request of what proportion of your generated output you are exporting, please could you also provide a list of electric appliances you have, their energy ratings and what your electricity usage profile is so that we can place that figure into some sort of context.0 -
hi figures from 31/12/10-20/08/11 generation 1379 units, export 1046 units, nearly all my daily usage is at night, ie cooking tv etc, current system is 2.35kw, have suffered slight problems with pollen from my trees and believe it or not in west highlands panels getting too hot otherwise very happy.0

wow thats a lot of info needed! see reply to cardew, because i tend to be outside a lot during day a lot goes to export hence export meter figured very quickly was exporting more than 50% on many occasions.0

Thanks.
So you have used 24% in the house(333kWh) in 8 months.
Be interesting to see what you, and others, use after a 12 month period.
Your pollen problem raises again the issue of cleaning the panels. Some say it is required, others don't think so.
I understand firms like ASG with thousands of systems don't routinely clean the panels but monitor the situation.0
