Carpet fitting and no space to move furniture.

Hi
My bedroom needs a carpet. I can move most of the furniture but there is nowhere to put the bed without trying to get it downstairs and into the garden. It's a small room and the bed takes up a lot of space. Can't believe I am the only one who has had this problem!!
Did you manage to work around it? Did the carpet fitters help? Would it be easier to have carpet tiles? Cheers.

Maybe the bed could be turned on its side and left in the hall .. but that might block access, or at leat make it a wee bit harder.
I'm sure professional carpet fitters have encountered every possible situation and will be able to offer advice / suggest a solution. Yes, it is much easier (and quicker for them) if every room is empty when they arrive, but I'm sure they'll get the carpet down for you.
True, they normally get paid depending on the carpet size ... buy surely they take into effect the possibility of a few awkward carpets, and not just the easy, straightforward ones, when they work out there ' official fitting rate'.0 -
Your problem is not unique. Carpet fitters are used to moving furniture around. Up end the bed and if possible get the mattress out of the room. The fitters will do one end of the room, lift the bed on to the laid part and then do the rest.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

some fitters will charge you to move any furniture because they are carpet fitters not furniture removers. Others will do it for a cup of tea, but the problem is they can't stretch the carpet properly if there is a bed in the room so when you call them back after 3 days to stretch the lumps out they could charge you for that, but that's the worst case scenario.Just strip the bed and explain the situation put the kettle on and you should be set.0

Hi!
We had the same problem with a sofa in our living room when we had new carpet fitted!
We moved everything else out and put the sofa on it's end on one side of the room, they laid one side and we moved the sofa and they laid the other.
They seemed to get on ok doing it that way, but I can imagine it's not as easy as doing an empty room so they may not all be willing to do it!0
