Carpets or Doors first?

I reckon I should get the new carpets and wooden floor down first, then replace the internal wooden doors. Does that sound logical?

It does to me. Otherwise you might have to trim the door bottoms twice :)

Or even worse, have to get a second set of new doors cos you took too much off the first set to clear the old flooring and the new flooring is lower.

Yes that's a good point. I'm getting carpets for the bedrooms, but the living room is going to be wooden flooring so that is bound to be lower than the existing carpet I guess.

If you have carpet fitted, (if you can) wait for a few weeks before you put on the doors, as the pile can become lower after a while.

If you can't wait, cut the doors a little on the tight side initially (so it actually touches the carpet top), then this will work out well, after a few weeks. You don't want too big a gap.

Alternatively, fit draught excluders to the doors, the ones with brushes on.
