The map on the card will be registered to you, I also think they are locked to the unit so you cant copy a mates card and put it in your tom tom.
Your best bet would be to buy a new card from tom tom at least you should get the latest version of the map.
Do you not get a cd with the maps on? I havnt played with a tom tom one so Im not sure. s for the card they are just standard SD cards so there is no problems there.0 -
i was hoping to download the maps and store them on a normal SD, Anyone know where I can get a cheap tomtom card then?Don't ask me, Im SKINT0

The downloadable maps are cracked and will only work with the tom tom software that is cracked to use the cracked maps so you cant use the downloadable maps on the go products as the software isnt cracked.
Contact tom tom direct and see if they can sort somthing out. Maybe your card has gone faulty? I would hope that tom tom provide you with a cd that allows you to install the maps on to a card did you not get a CD with the unit?0 -
my card did not go faulty, i lost it. I did get a cd with the unit but dont think it contains a back up for the card.
Thanks for your repliesDon't ask me, Im SKINT0 -
Did you connect it to the PC and create the backup that the TT Home software suggests? Not sure but that may put the info back on a new clean card.

Sorry to say you are wrong there not all the downloadable maps are cracked, and even the cracked ones DO work on the GO series, not that i speak from experience of course. If you require any further info or assistance just pm me.
PS Your better off getting a new SD card as you can get 1GB for about £16 And that way you can fit not just the newest up to date software and maps but also extras too as the standard cards are maxed out with just the new soft updates!!Thanks
