Offered too much ?

Think you might've burnt your bridges there! Depends how desperate they are to sell. Personally, I'd not entertain another offer from you (even at the original selling price) if I were the vendor.
You can but try ringing the EAs... but don't hold your breath.

There's no way they'll deal with him just now. Leave it a fortnight, then sound out the EA, but be prepared for a very very very frosty reception. In the meantime, keep looking around. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I think what you need to be careful of is that the EA will stop dealing with you, let alone the people you gazundered...
Hopefully you'll find another investment up with another agent.

Isn't £57k where you were before you gazundered? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I agreed to 57k, I thought about it for a while after 55k was rejected and came to the conclusion that I don't need to spend a penny on the house and if it was expensive it only expensive by 1 or 2k max (not like i'm paying 10k over).0

So after all that hassle you saved £500, not sure if any of that was really worth it!0

If I was the vendor I wouldn't take it off the market until exchange!0

Lowering an offer after it has been accepted (unless there is some new information, like a poor survey) is really bad form and if I were the vendor I would conclude that the OP is not a serious/businesslike person and I would not entertain any offers from that person. It is just not worth the hassle of trying to do business with unreliable people.
Ths OP clearly lives somewhere where it is still possible to buy a property for £57k - a sum that will not even buy a parking space in many locations. Pi$$ing about for a measly £500 I'm afraid reflects very badly on the buyer.0
