Hi,
I have planned a trip to Ireland in a week I planned this a few weeks back, since then I was taken to hospital (fri) and released wed with having to undergo a very major surgery.
Its unlikely I will be well enough to attend this is for work reasons but im self employed so i have no employer to fall back on.
I have insurance through my bank but looking through the documentation im not sure they will cover me for this.
The airline is FlYBE which I know is notorious for high admin fees and no chance for refunds.
I know I can still buy insurance before I travel but is it underhand to do that now and then claim for refund?
Any advice?
I will be callling my bank for the breakdown of their "worldwide cover" but I need a plan B

Any insurance you purchase now is unlikely to cover you if you are unable to fly because of your recent surgery.
If you can get your doctor to confirm you are not medically fit to travel you should use your bank insurance if you can0 -
Jen,
why do you suspect thet your bank insurance will not cover you?
If it's worth it's salt, and providing there were no pre-existing medical conditions before hand thet were not declared, i'm pretty much sure most insurances would cover.
BTW, you are not with Natwest Advantage Gold are you, and the lack of cover is because you have not taken 'Business Cover', are you?
