Every time you buy a gadget nowadays it comes with yet another USB cable..........so why not the connecting cable to the computer for your monitor - after all thats what it was bought to attach to surely?!
I'm on your side OP.

In some ways it might make more sense for “gadgets” to be supplied without cables.
Most of us have far more cables than we need. I know I have a cupboard full of USB cables as one is supplied with every USB device I have ever bought. I also have more mains cables, parallel printer cables etc than I will ever need.
Those cables cost money and it is us, the consumer, who pays.
It probably won’t happen because of the difficulty educating the public that they need to consider cables when they buy a new piece of kit.0 -
I'm with you OP. FWIW I bought a Visionmaster 20" LCD monitor last year (lots of overtime pay, felt like splashing out) which came with the following: UK and EU IEC mains leads, VGA video cable, DVI video cable, and a USB A-B cable for the onboard USB hub. I vaguely remember that my old Iiyama CRT came with a VGA cable, too, though that was about 8 years ago. With the two graphics cards I've bought in the last few years, neither came with any cables at all.0

Fair point but as you yourself said that cables are usually supplied, and seeing as it wasn't on this occassion, and I stated earlier they admitted it should have been included anyway, and seeing as yes, 9 times out of 10, cables are supplied, then they warn you when it isn't. Surely because cables are widly assumed to be included, then it comes as a surprise when it isn't, nor are you told it isn't at checkout - when as I stated they didn't need to.
Plus, last time I checked, there are a million more devices out there that use USB compared to a VGA cable. Bit of a difference don;t you think? Can't say I know people who buy a new monitor every few weeks/month as you could with a USB device. :cool:0
