Hi
I'd suggest getting a quote from at least 3 tree surgeons, to be on the safe side I'd also ask to see their insurance certificates. (Some tree surgeons don't charge to quote). You should also check with your council that the tree isn't protected by a Tree Preservation Order, Conservation Area or Restrictive Covenant prior to undertaking any works - if does have a TPO you should not undertake works without written consent of the council. With regard to costs they can vary hugely - down here in the South £40.00 - £140.00?Always be yourself, unless you can be a Unicorn - then always be a Unicorn !

Where to are you in the south. I had a quote from someone my girlfriends knows and they wanted £400 and thats not taking the rubbish away. They said if i had a tree surgeon in it would cost about £1000.Tracey2609 wrote: »Hi

We had a tree surgeon reomve a few BIG leylandeii (we had over 60 to remove and dh took out all those that had an easy and clear fall and we left the tricky ones to the tree surgeon.) Plus he gave me a quick refresher on apple pruning, and did the bulk of pollarding on two very neglected pollarded limes.
I suggest you ask tree surgeons what they'd charge, not other people who want the work!0 -
So it gets narrower nearer the top? That's reassuring. The height i would say is one and a half times the size of a telegraph pole and the diameter at the base of the tree is 9 foot but it's half the size the further it goes up the tree.
I paid £650 to have a 45ft tree cut down a couple of years ago, and that was the cheapest of three quotes. I'm in East Anglia.0 -
have a look at this site - and you can see what tree surgeons chat about
