Surround sound units

Hi all

I have a Panasonic surround sound system, but the DVD drive in the main unit sounds as if it's about to break. It won't stay closed and I think it's the laser unit at fault.

So I'm looking at replacing the system as one of the options if it's quite expensive to have the DVD drive fixed/replaced but can't find anywhere that just sells the unit. Anyone know?

if you are going to replace it then I would be opening it up to see if the drive is fixable

Would it not be a case of just buying a replacement drive?

    probably
but you will need to open it up and see what drive it is
plus it could be as simple as small piece of platicastray in the drive mechanism
    a free fix

I had it open earlier and the drive open a d closes fine. It's when you close it, what I think is the laser is having the issues. I can't see it properly to see if it's caught on anything, or if anything has snapped off and broke
