Insuring a car for driving in Europe

Hi,
After not having a car accident in 20 years, I have had 2 in the last few months. The first one was in May when a car crashed into the back of me at a roundabout. His insurance company is ignoring my insurance company. The work has been carried out, but the claim is still open.
Then a couple of weeks after the first accident, I managed to hit a metal post. I have the car back now and it is still fixed.
However, I have been unable to get them to let me buy insurance to cover me when we go to Europe in 10 days time. This is because both claims are still open (this has been going on since May).
I have been told that if one of the claims is closed, they will be able to accept my request for cover abroad. However, this is looking increasingly unlikely as there are only 10 days to go. If it is not closed in time, they say I can go abroad with just 3rd party insurance as this is included in the policy. However, I would prefer to have fully comprehensive if possible.
Is there any company I can arrange car insurance through for the duration of my holiday?
Not sure where to go from here.
