ZA Pro version 10.0.246.000 Problems

Hi all
Just downloaded and installed the above in the last few days. Initially installed the toolbar too so I could have a look see if I would use it. Problems immediately!
Searches using the Firefox address bar or search box to the right of it both produced search results in Google's old style. In the search box it had a ZA message, got rid of that by clicking the drop down box and Manage Search Engines.
Even after having uninstalled ZA and reinstalled without the toolbar though, I still get the old style results page if I use the address bar to search from. This is something I've got used to doing and I'm having to consciously use the search box instead now as I detest the old style results page.
ZA seems to be controlling this somehow but I don't know how to fix it. I guess I could try uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling, but thought I'd ask on here first if that might do it or if there's another fix.
Many thanks for any suggestions.

The question is about how to resolve an issue which appeared upon installing a paid for (upgrade) version of ZA. I'm very happy with ZA in general and I've been told for a number of years that it is the best available.
Relevant answers would be appreciated. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Software has only caused one problem which I'm sure is fixable.
Money has already been spent so removing software will NOT save money at this time, therefore answer is irrelevant on both counts.
As nobody wants to answer the question I actually asked I'll take it elsewhere.
Mods - please close this thread. I obviously made a mistake thinking I might get some help here. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

If you've paid for it, then the ZA forums or support will be the appropriate place to ask:

So why not ask the people/forum who have been telling you that it is the best available?Move along, nothing to see.0 -
Whoever told you this was the best must have been having a laugh, would not touch it with a bargepole.:pB&SC No. 298

You stalking me Dojo?
From just one internet review site, I could quote many:
"ZoneAlarm Internet Security has earned its place among the best of the best internet security suites that we’ve found."
Everyone is entitled to their own choice, I wouldn't touch McAfee or Norton with a barge pole, heard far too many bad things about them.
Oh look, Editor's Choice!
RussJK - the most sensible response so far. I was trying to avoid doing that though as it means signing up to yet another forum and choosing yet another user name. Looks like I'll have to go down that route now though. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Also make sure browser security and vitalization options are turned off in ZA.

You cannot beat NOD32 (ESET) I build PC`S and have found this to be the best I have used. Have a look here

I would rather listen to my peers than some editor for a website:p:pB&SC No. 298

First, the link doesn't produce any readable results.
Second, NOD32 is great, I agree, however it's an anti-virus and Zone Alarm is a firewall, don't see the comparison there.
I was using NOD32 as my antivirus but had some problems with it, forget what, anyway, reverted to AVG and happy again.
I have relied upon personal recommendation for firewall over the years and that has been Zone Alarm. I just used the links to back up what friends have said, that's it's a good product.
I only have one issue with it since the upgrade and it's a browser issue not a firewall issue as such, so still no problems with the firewall, just a browser glitch caused by them trying to be clever.
MODS, PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD NOW AS NOBODY HAS ANSWERED MY QUESTION AND THE DISCUSSION IS NOT HELPFUL.When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

Sorry I meant ESET SMART SECURITY 4. this is an antivirus, firewall and antispam protection as well. I have just clicked on the link and it is working perfectly well. Click on the Security and HJT tab at the top of the page and you will see what I was on about.:pB&SC No. 298
