I have just been and bought a Brother P-touch 1000 label maker in Lidl for £9.99
http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20070104.p.Label_Maker.ar1
It is exactly the same as this one available in Amazon for £31.96:

Although other places such as PC world have it for around £25. However, £9.99 is a good price.
It also comes with a 5m tape cartridge to start you off.

For those of you that don't get the Lidl email, they have tons of stationery/office stuff from today. Some good back to school stuff too.

Thanks. It seems a great price. Does anyone know how much do the spare tapes cost?

A quick search has shown me that this machine (Brother P-touch 1000) uses TZ tapes up to 12mm
a single 8m long cartridge of 9mm wide tape costs around £10.49 at Neat Ideas (maybe cheaper elsewhere) and would make me 133 labels of 6cm long each at a cost of just under 8p per label.
I usually buy labels from Easy2Name (http://www.easy2name.com/custom-garment-labels.htm) - a great company by the way, at a cost of £7.95 for 50 - around 16p each.
I get through a lot of labels as I have three school-age kids, so the fact that I can now make an almost limit-less supply of labels for school stuff - not to mention other stuff around the house (don't stand still if you don't want a label!) is great!0 -

Thank you. Can these labels be stitched to uniforms? How do you attach them to shoes and so on? Thanks again.
