BACS Transfers

Options
My wages from my new employer were paid by BACS on a friday lunchtime, it is now the following saturday (a week and one day away) and the money still hasn't cleared. All bank details were correct,. They use a HSBC account and mine is Halifax. Can anyone help or tell me why its taking so long?

Bacs payments take 3 days so they either have incorrect details/ not paid as stated or your bank has messed up !

You could phone HSBC and ask if there is a payment going through, very unlikely

What about your co-workers? Have they received theirs?

When did they receive them? If it's anything other than a very small company then I'd imagine they'll be using BACS Direct Credit (not BACS transfer), which is a simultaneous debit/credit so you'd have received the money a week ago yesterday.

What is the available balance on your account?
Could it be that you have no available funds even after payment of wages into your account?
Does the credit show on your account and what type of account do you hold? (Savings or current)

If this is the first payment due from your employer, I'd stake money that an error has been made with the sort code/account number.

Is your Halifax account new? Is the BACS the first credit to the account as that may have caused an issue, eg the new account may not be fully active.

If you give the Halifax the EXACT amount they can trace it at their end and advise of any problems.
