I just take half the shop with me. If they don't have wide enough rails or have untold stuff on the floor (sportsworld, Dunelm, JJB, BHS, Republic, Waterstones and the list goes on), I give them something to do. The worst thing I found recently, our local Listers where I got my meds from has closed, so the next one is a Lloyds. It has one of the window faced "disabled" buttons on, but the door has a 6-8 inch step up. How the hell do I get in there? Now when I was a kid, I could do bunny hops on my BMX, but I have not managed to do this yet with my wheelchair.

I thought the DDA was defunct now and taken over by the Equalities act 2010?

    I could be wrong though
You are right of course (but it depends when the discrimination started/took place) - I am still working on some projects that were planned to be DDA compliant and have taken a while to come to fruition, so am using old terminology, sorry
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

Reading these posts has been quite revealing and brought to mind some of our travels in the EU with , at first , a wheelchair then a Mobility Scooter in many of the stores available !
One that stands out was a Hema store , similar to a wilkinsons , we entered the store and after a bit of shopping, which was a delight with the room available , we decided to have a coffee and cake in the 1st floor cafe , got to the lift and because of a stand near to the alleyway door to the lift could not get a turn needed to enter the lift , ah well , maybe next time .......
Then a member of staff noticed we were having trouble and came accross to us and , speaking excellent english , asked us to wait a couple of minutes which we did
she then returned with 2 big lads who proceeded to lift the entire display stand , and contents , out by about 2 foot making access to the lift a doddle !!!
" Just let me know when you want to come down " she said and we spent a happy hour shopping and snacking !
Same on our return to the ground floor , when thanked by us she simply said " No Problem , Please come back soon "
Now that what i call service :T:T:T
    A Bast**d I May Be ! I Was Born One !
