  • I cleaned my cooker hood with cillit bang. Left it to drip off onto kitchen roll. It ruined my hob. I've been looking at it for weeks peed off with myself. Just saw a brilliant tip on another site to use t-cut. Don't know why I didn't think of this before! I'm unable/don't know how to post pics on here but I think it's shinier now than it was before!
  • hi pal
I've just come to my mums house and she has done the same with her hob we have tried Brasso and that has worked hope this helps you
    Cheers Jake 😁
  • Hi I have used cillit bang on my hob and it has ruined it completely and I'm not getting anywhere with the company as I cant provide the batch number (I had cleaned it late at night emptied the bottle and put it out for refuse collection for the following morning) Has anyone else been in this situation as it's going to cost me a three figure sum to rectify it.

Its lethal stuff, it should be banned.

And also of course, some of it is down to people not reading the instructions
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • The Cillit Bang label says it's suitable for stainless steel. I disagree!

BUT... the horrible black stains came off almost completely with a non-scratch kitchen sponge/scourer and Astonish cream cleaner (and a fair bit of elbow grease).

In the UK you can pick up Astonish from Home Bargains for about £1.

My thanks to the earlier posts... I tried bicarb/baking soda which didn't work, but Astonish...genius suggestion!

I recommend Olive Oil to clean and shine afterwards. Baby Oil has perfumes and additives but Olive Oil is natural and you're more likely to have it in the cupboard! :)
  • I had a new kitchen sink installed, apparently stainless steel. After a few weeks I noticed lime scale at the base of the taps and sprayed with Cillet Bang. After a couple of minutes I wiped it off and the sheen had disappeared. It was described as scorched or something similar.

The instructions state that it can be used on stainless steel taps so I would assume also surround?

Cif doesn't have any effect. Any ideas?

Vinegar and a small brush for light limescale but it will take time possibly quite alot if its really bad.like a old kettle .
Acid based limescale removers can discolour chrome taps and stainless .it depends on strenght .
Its best to spread evenly keep it moving then water wipe before damage occurs .
