Backing up word/excel files

My laptop has to go in for a new dvd drive and they will probably wipe everything!

What would i be able to use to back up my college work its mainly work docs - would a usb memory stick be okay for it?

thanks

There is no reason why they should wipe everything just to replace a DVD drive,in fact I doubt they will ,but you should still have a back in any case ..and yes, a usb pen would do if you can't use the dodgy DVD.if the pen is large enough copy the whole of "My Documents folder" if thats where you store them.

If you have an external hard disk or know anyone who has you could use this to back things up.
