Glamour Magazine subscription going up

Not sure if this is the right place, as I was not sure which thread it fit into best. Today with my Glamour magazine I got a note to say that as I pay by direct debit my subscription fee will change from £9.99 a year to £18.00 a year. I set up my subscription in 2002! So I can understand why it is going up, but a few months ago I got a similar thing saying it would go up to £12 which I though wasnt too bad.

Using my money saving head, the annoying thing is that in the magazine new subsribers can get a deal where you pay £29 for 24 issues, so it is not good money saving to stay on the direct debit to pay double what I have been paying for 12 issues.

As such Im thinking of writing to Glamour to see if they can do me a deal (worth a try I guess) as I have been a valued (I thought) customer for nearly 10 years and they are offering new customers a better deal. If not I will cancel my subscription and set a new one up paying £29 (a cheque this time!) for 24 magazines and a free gift!

It's just another example of companies not valuing loyal customers but offering deals to encourage new customers.

So stop 'carping on' (as Mark Benton said) and vote with your feet.

Give their subscriptions department a call, just ask them for the same deal as they give new subscribers. If they have half a brain, they will bite your hand off as opposed to lose a subscription. If they won't, how about cancelling and taking out a new subscription as a new joiner?! ;-)

First thing I did was ring them, they said they only deal with new subscriptions so I asked for a contact email to complain. I have sent the email off now, will see what they say. Otherwise I am going to cancel my subscription end of next week and then just buy the bundle of 24 issues at £29 which would be cheaper.

cancel d/d and wait for/look for another deal elsewhere. I did this every few years with other mags.

theres loads of deals around on loads of sites.

its not totally related to the thread, but where did you see the 24 issues for £29 offer? as id be interested in taking out a supscription myself at that price (by cheque as well of course!)

It was in the magazine, but it is also on the website.

I've recently started a Glamour subscription a couple of months back. I'll be keeping an eye out for price hikes.
