Sunmasters are based in Halifax, and are part of the Global Travel Group. Be very careful what you book with them. THey are predominantly a company who will book you seperate flights and seperate accommodation in order to 'sell you' a holiday.

I am not saying do not book with them, as i know lots of people who have booked with them. What i am saying is before you book anything with them, make sure you know exactly what you are booking (ie Dynamically packeged, full package, 2 seperate elements), and make sure you know how well you are protected financially should something (like the collpase of Holidays4U) happen.

    Regards

    HXDave.

Reading the ( good) advice from HXDave , and reading 'between ' the lines , HXDave as a travel Agent does NOT wish to 'rubbish a fellow travel agent .

But I have no such scruples, after another group went to the wall this morning .
Book with a credit card , book a package and I would even go one further and book with a well known company .

Holidays are too valuable to take any risks .
  • Thank you both for your honest and helpful advice..... prices seem a little too good to be true, hence the reason I asked on here, so will keep looking.

    Cheers

On the 10am 24hour BBC news the was a talk about a company that had gone down and the Hotels were wrongly demanding money , before guests could leave. It was not Holidays4U but has a similar name. Will try and watch and post.

I wonder if they were getting mixed up with Hotels4U, which are owned by THomas Cooks, totally seperate from Holidays4U?

While the advice received is good, I wouldn't say Sunmaster's prices were too good to be true, if the price is there, then the holiday is there.

As stated by Dave, they do not sell package holidays. They sell you a flight, and then sell you a hotel booking, and then sell you a transfer. Although these 3 items are booked through Sunmaster (the agent) they are 3 separate bookings.

There isn't anything wrong with this, as long as you know what you are booking. It is basically no different to you booking directly with the airline, booking a hotel through a website (or directly with the hotel) and then booking transfers with someone like Resorthoppa.

If, for example, your airline/flight provider goes bankrupt, your hotel and transfer bookings will still stand and may be subject to cancellation fee (or even non refundable) if you fail to find alternative flights. Same, if the hotel cancel your reservation, the flights will still stand and almost certainly be non-refundable.

Nothing wrong with all this, as long as you know what you are booking. If you want a fully packaged, ATOL bonded package holiday, then you need to be looking with Thomson, Thomas Cook, Olympic etc.

Personally, I find nothing wrong with dynamic packaging, however read the T&C's!
