In my opinion, there are a lot of people who feel that they are 'discriminated' against, be it for age / sex / race etc etc.

In reality, I would say that such discrimination is far less prevelant than is perceived by the applicant.

By all means, the OP could omit the DOB from the application form, however, unless he/she intends to into the interview with a carrier bag over his/her head and fail to disclose educational/career history, I cant see how he/she can avoid giving the approx details anyway.

All seems like a storm in a teacup, started by a supercilious/paranoid OP, and is very indicative of the eagerness of our society to be offended over minutia.

If you want the job, probably best to not take such a lefty attitude.

Personally I would fill it in - I know at one interview they told me they were grateful that I'ld put my D.O.B on my CV as otherwise they have to calculate from when people took their degree. Generally they do try and work it out anyway.
cripes how lazy are they? That should take seconds..

You cant legally discriminate on grounds of age but it will still happen. They will just say it's something else when challenged.
