Faulty Nintendo DS - at Game

My 11 year old was thrilled when she opened her Ninetendo DS package (including Nintendo Dogs) (cost £99). She played for a few days and then it stopped working. She was upset.
My husband took it back to Game yesterday and as they didn't have any more (they said it was the last of the old model), they exchanged it for a Ninetendo DS lite at £99. He asked them if they had the Nintendo Dogs as she has no game now to play on it and they said they had non in stock and they are difficult to get old of.
I was really annoyed with Game because they took the Nintendo Dogs game which my daughter had played on already, back because it was part of the package but now we have to try and get hold of the Nintendo Dogs game again and pay approx £30 for one elsewhere.
Does anyone agree that they should have let us have the Dogs game anyway. We have been inconvenienced (particularly my daughter) so I think that was the least they could do.
I am thinking of going back to Game today to ask if they still have the Dogs game we returned yesterday - do you think it is only right they give us the game (which has been used anyway). Ok, we've ended up with a better model Nintendo (so my husband was told) but I didn't want to have to spend another £30 for a game. That wasn't my initial choice.
Opinions anyone before I go today and possibly make a fool of myself.
Thankyou
Julie

I don't know how you/they stand regarding them giving you the game itself back but it might be worth contacting Nintendo direct before you go back to the shop and ask their advice.

In the past my son broke the screen on his Nintendo SP and they replaced the console (although they did charge as this was not a fault but caused by him). They told me that they guarantee consoles for 2 years.
I would imagine if you could get your original faulty console and game back from the shop - Nintendo would probably swap the console over at no cost to yourself (other than the cost of postage).
(Unlike Sony they replace them with brand new systems and not refurbished ones)0 -
I agree with you that they should have included Nintendogs when they replaced the Ds with a Ds lite. It isnt your fault that they didnt have the same model in store and had to exchange for the newer version. I would go back and ask again.Let us know how you get on.“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Game seems to be a company who regularly feature on this page, I think they need dealing with firmly. This is a tricky one though..not sure whether they are right or wrong.0

Thankyou to all of you who have replied so far. I decided not to go to the shopping centre as wasn't in the mood and it would be packed during sale time. I rang them up instead.
The sales person explained to me that Game would not get refunded from Nintendo if the Dogs game was not returned with the faulty console. I said I understood that but Nintendo would get a used Dogs game back, my daughter would be without a game to play on the new console until I could get a new one and it wasn't the game that was faulty, it was the console so why should Ninetendo need that back. I asked if Game could communicate with Ninetendo about it.
After he asked the manager, I was told no, sorry.
Sounds to me like it was just too much effort on Game's part. At least they could do is ring Nintendo up and ask what could be done. They could send the faulty console back and give me the game back and Game would either be partially or fully refunded which isn't a big deal to them. I know they are busy, especially at this time of year, but isn't that what good customer service is about.
I wrote by email to Nintendo before my husband took it back and they advised me to ring them to sort it out. Why should I ring (1-800-255-3700) which sounds expensive to me, to explain my problem when I've explained it by email and be put on hold possibly, then pay for posting it back. All they needed to do is apologise and ask me for my number so they could ring me with a solution which doesn't involve extra expense for me. Is that expecting too much? Maybe I do.
Anic - thankyou for the Nintendo details you gave - not sure it's worth getting the console back etc. Might as well just pay approx £30 for a new Dogs game0 -
try movietyme.com it's a us company but it's free delivery to the uk, and I've used to to order nintendogs for my ds, the price is £17.99-18.99 delivered depending on which version you order.
I used to work for game, and a lot of what seems to be common practice these days was really not accepted when I was there, it's really gone down hill in the past 3 years. I refuse to buy from them unless it's a last resort and even then I only buy online.0 -
I agree with looby on using Movietyme. I have just ordered Nintendogs for ms DS at a bargain £17.99 delivered. Also worth keeping an eye on is Tesco Jersey.
