TV music channel, no license required?

I've done a search but can only find details for CD and radio.

The charity shop I work in has around 50 TV's for sale and all of them are on 4music (TV music channel available on freeview) everyday. Is no license required?

I find it hard to believe no license is required for that, but it is for radio. Seems a little silly.

While I wouldn't report it, I would just like to try and persuade the manager to put on the local radio station instead. I'm fed up with New look style the nation or some weird, cheap b list celeb interview/quiz contest thing.

I'm surprised people enter the shop :rotfl:

Any info would be great, thanks.

I think a TV licence would be required, but also the same licences as you'd need for having a radio station playing ...

Does the charity have a head office? Or a central 'charity shop' admin bit? I'd ask them.

Its the British Heart foundation, so yes, it has a head office. I believe the area manager said they couldn't play the radio due to not having the license (to be fair, it wouldn't take them very long to make the money for a license) but oddly, TV is fine?

    It just doesn't sound logical.

BHF probably has a Company Group Licence:

...although it is still £145.50 per year per shop.

You do probably need a PRS licence though, as you are playing music?

This is way outside my area of expertise, but looking at point 9 of their website's T&C I'm not sure how it's legal...

cross posted with withabix, but agree about the PRS licence.

The link appears to just be for Channel 4 Online Services, User Content and/or 4oD Content.

I assume the shop has a TV license, obviously it doesn't include playing music in public/for customers.
