Do distance selling regs apply if I'm buying something over the internet from the US?
How do I make sure I'm protected if something goes wrong?
Will my credit card protect me?
Thanks

No

Ensure the website is trustworthy and fully legitimate with genuine products before buying.
Will my credit card protect me?
They may, but if they do you will certainly need to pay for returns to be able to benefit from their chargeback in case of issues.0 -
DSRs will not protect you when buying from overseas. How would you enforce them ?
You could try writing to the Better Business bureau

what if the item doesn't arrive and the shop becomes difficult? Will my credit card refund me?
Look like a legit big shop0 -
Just gave HSBC a call, my credit card protects me when purchasing online anywhere in the world.
I was told if any problems, e.g. if seller is difficult, if good don't arrive or arrive faulty, the credit card will refund me and claim back off the seller, anywhere in the world.0 -
Isn't section 75 protection only available on purchases above £100. And chargeback only available for items not received.........0

... chargeback only available for items not received.........
That's not what the guy at HSBC told me on the phone.. He said I'm covered to buy anything from anywhere in the world, and if there are any problems at all, I'm protected. I just made a purchase for $5000 so I hope he wasn't joking.0 -

That's s75 not the distance selling regs. They are two completely different things.0 -
indeed. but amount to the same thing: my protection. that's all I'm interested in really
Section 75 offers a higher degree of protection than the chargeback system.
But as already established -- you have nothing to worry about.
Fingers crossed all goes smoothly though and you won't even bother needing it.0 -
