Sony DVD Camcorder - Problems in copying 8cm dvd to hard drive

Hi,
I have a sony dvd camcorder - Sony DVD 405E. The video is on an 8cm DVD+RW disc and when I try copying it to my laptop which has Win XP, I get an error msg as 'File format not recognised by Windows'.

Please can someone guide me to copy the recorded video onto the hard drive? Do I need to download any s/w for this?
The file format is UDF. When I insert the dvd onto my laptop, the video opens up in Win Media player, but when I try copy/paste of the dvd, it says, file format not recognised.
I couldnt open the dvd drive folder as well.

Any help gratefully appreciated!!!
