Hi,

I have ordered a number of books from Amazon yesterday which I need asap and I am at work during the week, so Saturday is my only option. All books I have ordered had the express delivery guaranteed by Saturday 6th August option available so I was happy to pay the 8 quid to receive them on the one day Im at home so I can start using them.

Today I have received an email from amazon stating that 2 of the books have been dispatched and will arrive on Saturday - royal mail tracking number confirms this time scale - and that the rest of the books will be dispatched separately - no timescale given.

As mentioned all books were in stock and had the express delivery option available when I ordered them, so where do I stand in terms of amazon not honouring the 'guaranteed by Saturday 1pm' time scale ?

Many thanks.

Amazon dispatch up to 12 midnight and sometimes later.

They haven't failed, they have just dispatched two of your books via one means - the likelyhood is they use a courier if the items come to the packing station too late for the RM cut off. It will likely end up with a courier to ensure you get it on time - the books might all be in stock, but unlikely in the same warehouse or even in the same city - they dispatch from all over the country.

I'm a prime customer and have had stuff turn up next day for everything I've ordered over the last two years. You might want to look into it, £49 a year, if you are paying £8 each weekend it wouldn't take long for it to pay for itself...

Amazon have not failed yet - if you woke up tomorrow and still don't have a dispatch notification then they have failed.
  • If the books don't arrive in the promised time then you can return them and get a full refund.
One of the options given on the returns request page is something along the lines of "goods did not arrive within promised timescale".
If you choose this one you will be able to print a post paid returns label so it won't cost you anything.

I know it won't help you with the books, but at least you won't be out of pocket.

I ordered 3 items from Amazon last Monday (all for next day delivery) but only received shipping notifications for 2 of them.
When the courier delivered the goods the next day, the 3rd item was packed in the box with the rest of the goods.
  • Thanks guys :)

I have used amazon for many years but only order a few times a year and rarely use express delivery.
Last night I received indeed 2 further dispatch emails.
Today at 9.30 the first parcel arrived via CityLink, ironically this was the one that was posted last as per dispatch email.
At almost 11 Royal Mail delivered the other two parcels together.
So everything sorted, thanks for your input.
PS Ive noticed that they are offering same evening delivery for London and Birmingham, if and when they extend this offer to other cities as well, it would be a great option for everyone whos at work during the day.

    Thanks

Maybe you should edit the title of your post to say you are satisfied with amazon who honoured their delivery timescale ? As it stands, it's now entirely wrong :)
