If you die is interest on your debts suspended?

I ask this question, mainly because the grandmother to my children died some time ago, leaving money to my children. At the time of her death I was informed that all interest she may receive on her bank accounts would be stopped because a bank cannot pay interest to someone who does not exist… or something of that nature.
I am wondering if the same is true for interest on debts such as credit cards or loans?
