I learnt to paint a room without using masking tape!

Yay me! Inspired by a thread a while back where someone asked a question about masking tape and one of the painters on here told them to learn to cut in instead.
Painted the walls first, then did the ceiling and gloss work. For the edge of the skirting board (where it meets the wall), I used an angled flitch brush to get a neat edge. No idea if that's the correct tool but it worked. And I even pulled the carpet up around the edges to do the skirting properly.
It didn't take much longer when you account for the time spent masking and unmasking. And the finish is actually better. I always used to get a bit of bleed under the masking tape, no matter how good a brand I used and how well I pressed it down.
Pointless thread, just to congratulate myself and thank whoever it was who inspired me. Ormus I think?

Not pointless.
I found painting a previous property that I was cr*p at using masking tape and that using small brushes was easier, quicker and neater.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
