Kitchen dilemma

Our small kitchen currently only has space for a fridge and the freezer is hidden away in a cupboard under the stairs. I have 3 options to get the freezer in the kitchen (and move the tumble dryer out a bedroom and into the cupboard under the stairs).

Firstly - the £2000 kitchen option
Secondly - pulling out a 100cm base unit and 100cm wall unit to make room for the fridge and freezer stacked ontop of each other or an actual fridge freezer.
Thirdly - pull out 1 60cm wall unit. BUT, this would mean that the fridge or freezer would be right next to the cooker hob. The fridge right now sits in an open under worktop cubby next to the oven unit.

Obviously the third idea would be the cheapest and less disruptive option as well as keeping maximum cupboard space (for all the crap that seems to multuply in there). But... fridge right next to a hob? It will be an electric hob (did I mention that needs replaced anyway?) so if there is a 'safer' option for hob stye I'd be grateful to hear.

Much as I would love a new kitchen there are many things needing done before that and also I don't have the cash right now (and not for about a year).

IIRC you need 300mm either side of a hob.

Yeah. It feels wrong thinking about it. Removing the two units still makes it next to the hob but there will be a gap (where I can store the hoover). And it gives me the motivation to bin a load of junk.

    Thinking out loud.
