Now is a great oppportunity for investors says legendary fund manager Bolton

Options
Fidelity's Anthony Bolton has claimed that the recent volatility within the marketplace is normal within a bull trend and indicates that it presents good opportunities for investors (from Investoo.co.uk ):

"I believe the recent stock market volatility reflects a familiar pattern during this bull market of short, but often very sharp set backs, within a bull trend. For some time I have argued the outlook for the US and particularly Europe is for growth but well below normal growth rates. In my view this makes the case for exposure to developing markets and particularly those of Asia even more compelling where growth rates by comparison, even though they are slowing, will still be very attractive."

“History shows that normally extreme equity market volatility as we are now experiencing should be seen as a time of opportunity rather than a time to become more defensive.”

Interesting thoughts here and I'm sure some will disagree!

The shine has rather gone off Bolton recently. He knows the western markets well but the performance of his China fund suggests he he not really in tune with what is going on out there.

I agree with Reaper. Its time Bolton put his China fund back into growth. It was advertised heavily and money poured into the 2nd helping and it has since been on a downward trend. My investment in the fund is showing losses but willing to hold on for a little while due to his previous track record.

Any drop is potentially a buying opportunity - that is just fluff. The real question would be whether there is a better one. If I was buying now I would do it in tranches personally. imho, dyor.
