I can so relate to this, my mum bought me a tomato cutter that took about 4 hours to clean after each use, needless to say I only used it the once and it languished in a cupboard for about 15 years, I managed to throw it out when we refitted the kitchen but I have a box on the top shelf in the utility room just in case LOL hope it's not lurking in there.0

I am sure that anyone with a juicer can identify with this bit: "For one (mercifully brief) summer, the juicer was an essential part of your exercise regime. During the hours you spent picking tiny bits of dried pulp out of its crevices, you burned thousands of calories in rage. For every four hours of cleaning, you produced a single glass of juice with powerful laxative qualities."
My Coriander, pineapple and ginger juice had particularly powerful 'laxative qualities'"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

i love my juicer but owing to the pull of the high fat, high sugar ,high salt and prob high everything else over the festive period ive not bought fresh stuff to juice so roll on the next supermarket shop where the fruit and veggie rails will pull me in and seduce me once again and the juicer will not be resigned to that great kitchen cupboard in the sky

We were given a smoothie maker in May as a wedding present. Used it twice. Such a messy thing to clean. Occupies a large amount of worktop (we've only a small kitchen). Quite frankly I'd happily give it away but it was a present from our best man (husband's nephew) and I'm sure my husband would notice its absence. So that's something I'm stuck with for the forseeable future.

I can definitely relate to the juicer.
It seemed like such a good idea at the time, fresh, healthy juice in all sorts of delicious combinations, but if I had realised how long the damn thing would take to clean,I would never have bought it.
The juice was made in about 15 seconds,I particularly liked carrot and apple and then it took what seemed like hours to clean the machine afterwards.
It is now languishing at the back of a cupboard as a reminder not to buy any more useless gadgets.
The only thing I have bought that I am really going to get my money's worth from is a breadmaker,I use this 3 times a week.0 -
I too have a juicer lurking in the back of a cupboard. I found that I was using so much fruit and veg to make just one glass full and cleaning all the little bits afterwards was a big pain. Plus the thing was so big and bulky on the kitchen side0

thats what I have, well I bought it from ebay but it has a label stating that its a Jack La Lanne and it looks the same, could be a cheap knock off of course0

I giggled all the way through this, but with that sort of embarrassed giggle when you recognise yourself all too well!
One of my new year's resolutions is to clear as much stuff as poss via ebay etc., and not to hang on to things in the hope they'll come in useful some day (of course, I will need whatever it is urgently the day after I despatch it!). I have managed to resurrect my knives courtesy of a kit of 3 titanium sharpening wotsits from QVC, and my knives are now incredibly sharp. Judging from the amount of steel shavings coming off the knives during sharpening, the sharperners will eventually wreck the knives, but at least I'll have got some proper use out of them, rather than have them hanging uselessly on a rack or reducing everything to a mangled mess.0 -
I am sure that this is not the right thread so please feel free to kick somewhere else! I would just like to say that a recently purchased gadget is a huge success, easy to clean and stores away in no space at all.
It's a Lakeland Evenslice bread slicer. I bought it for £2.50 in my local Sue Ryder CS and only knew what it was because it was boxed. They are still sold and at £20.79 so it was a good buy as I intend to go back to baking my own when time allows.
Last week a I bought a YS Morrisons seeded loaf which was very squashy and would have been a devil to cut into anything less than a doorstep. The Evenslice allowed me to make perfect slices and I would just like to recommend it to any home breadmakers out there - but only if you see it in a charity shop of course! I don't think you would recognise it for what it is without having seen one or at least a picture, but it is well worth looking out for in my opinion.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
