Any recommendations for hotel/B&B in York?

We're looking for a short break to york - probably just a saturday night if possible but as I know most places like to get a fri and sat booked up, we could do this if we had to. Can anyone recommend anywhere?
I'd really like a smaller hotel/B&B either in York itself or within an easy drive of York - preferably out towards Scarborough/the sea.
It would be for myself and husband, our 2 year old daughter to share with us (we can take a travel cot) and my parents in their own room (lol). A country pub/inn would be great as we could perhaps go downstairs with the baby monitor in the evening if it is a small enough place.
Budget is low - probably £40 per person per night or less if possible... Any ideas?

Try the Golden Slipper on Goodram Gate right in the centre, that £40 a night. Or the Golden Fleece at the end of the shambles, thats £90 a night but has been featured on Most Haunted, its worth the money as it was an old coaching in and is very authentic still, the rooms are really spacious. We have also stayed in The Newington Hotel, http://www.somewheretogo.co.uk/york_newington_hotel.html

my brother and his girlfriend are planning to go to York for his birthday in a couple of weeks.
Would prefer city centre as they will be out on the town both nights (fri, sat).

I like the Premier Travelinn - you can come and go as you please and decide where and when you want to eat without any aggravation - and they're fairly inexpensive too!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
