I am buying a 207 (57 reg) Auto with 22k on the clock - I am very sure the belt has never been replaced. Would you advise i change belt now or wait till when

Cheers

Vague details like that aren't going to get you a reply.

What's the make, model, engine size, petrol or diesel?

Usually the timing belt change is due anywhere from 60,000 upwards.

Some of those are a timing chain are they not? Check your handbook it'll give you either a number of yrs/mileage to change the belt or if it's a chain at one of the services (usually around 100k) there will be an item to inspect the chain for stretch. If it's a chain you may also have to check or replace the tensioner at some point (not normally difficult)

60K is pushing it for a cambelt change. Most manufacturers reckon on 3 years 36K. A lot of handbooks used to say 72K, but then the failures started, and people in high places became scared.

Actually i spoke with peugot and they said it is not due until 70k but i would advise caution maybe the best solution is to get some visible inspection done

Timing chains usually last the same as the engine/car. The only time it should need changing is if the engine hasn't had regular oil changes and the automatic tensioner oil feed becomes blocked.
