Cheap parking for shopping in Manchester

Can anyone suggest the cheapest places to park for a day shopping in Manchester please. It will be mid week if that makes any difference. A friend said she thought there was a cheap car park in Peter Street? Road? Drive? but I can't find anything online. Don't mind walking a bit into town if it means saving on parking but don't know the area and trying to work out if cheaper to drive and park or train for 2 of us but train seems expensive.

I followed your parking link too Dexyblue but realise the parking is quite expensive so I'm looking at the Manchester 'park & ride' website but I'm finding the map very unhelpful. Can you recommend where we can park to use the bus/train/metro from the Travelodge in Birch Street
(Off Hyde Road, M12 5NT)? We don't mind buying day tickets if available but the website is hard to understand when you're not familiar with the area.
Just found out about the free Metroshuttle around the city centre! One step closer to having a great holiday in Manchester!

There's a car park by the side of the MEN Arena that's £3 all day. Only a 10 minute walk in to the centre from there. Its on New Bridge Street. Thats the MEN on the left & the car park is on the right.

picadilly basin/dale street car park is £6 all day or £4 after 1pm and 5 minutes walk maximum to picadilly gardens. you can also get the metroshuttle bus literally 30 seconds down the road.0

socks uk, the sportcity travelodge you will be staying at has a huge car park, so leave your car there and just walk to Hyde Rd (2 mins) and you can get numerous buses into central Manchester every couple of minutes or so0
