Hi, about to switch to EDF Energy Fixed Saver2 Dual Fuel (from BG websave11). I know I'm switching late and will still take a hit with BG price rise.

I like EON (great customer service) but EDF is cheapest (for 14months fix). Are they OK? (plus £20 quidco).

The switch itself would have been totally painless if they'd actually passed over the right final reading to my outgoing supplier (for gas).

Instead they ignored the 3 different readings that i'd given them and made up an arbitrary figure that my meter won't reach for another 6 weeks (at least).

Even my outgoing supplier e-mailed me to ask if the figure was right as it was so far skewed forward they were concerned about it.

My gas account is now in some stupid billing limbo state until they sort it out.

The new system they are trying to put in appears to have totally ruined their reputation for reasonably good service.

The electric they managed to do just fine - i guess 1 out of 2 is something. :rotfl:

See my thread that I posted on another thread last night below :-

I found EDF's customer service to be abysmal.

I arranged the transfer of my elderly mum's supplies from British Gas Scotland / Scottish Power to EDF dual fuel earlier this year.

Neither supply was transferred successfully after 3 months. EDF incorrectly insisted they were the new gas supplier and they started taking direct debit payments so my mum was effectively paying twice for her gas as she was still being billed by British Gas Scotland. If I didn't assist with her bill management she would never have noticed this.

The electricity transfer wasn't progressed by EDF at all.

The call centre staff were hopeless in sorting the transfers out. Every call took 45 mins - 1 hour to get through to an adviser. They also broke promises to call back with an update / solution. I am unable to phone off-peak so I tried emailing instead. My emails weren't replied to within their own response times either - so no excuses there.

I ended up cancelling the contract with EDF and obtained a refund.

My mum would rather pay extra on the high rates associated with the old fashioned quarterly paper billing system to maintain the levels of customer service from her current suppliers and avoid another transfer fiasco than pursue the cheaper monthly direct debit deal with EDF or any other suppliers now - which is a sad reflection on EDF.

Similarly I would be prepared to pay more by staying with EON than transfer to EDF now.

I'm with eon onlinesaver2 now which ends on 31st August. Based on the eon tarrif i'll be on from 1st Sept. (energyonline) EDF are considerably cheaper (200+) pa based per Uswitch. That's a considerable saving compareed with Eon.
