It looks like some sort of alter or shrine. Wonderful quirky flat. I do wonder if the kitchen is from another property as it is so out of character with the rest of the property.
And what are all those boxes on the kitchen windowsill? Are they boxes of tea?
I was wondering that! Probably a MSE'r stockpiling on bargains and no room0 -

I think it's just an alcove/shelf in the fireplace to hold an ornament. My parents once had an off centre fireplace and that's what it was in their one.0 -

This house is in a scruffy part of Leicester and not bothered to get the right impressions to sell their house
1. Not bothering to tidy the crap outside of the house
2. Used spray paint to paint their door number. To resolve this a piece of wood screwed over the door number and a couple of brass numbers - cost £6. Noticed the graffiti wallpaper
3. Leaving the newspaper spread out on the couch.
4. Not bothering to grass the bald patches
5. Leaving stuff like the mop bucket out, the picture next to the stairs not straight
Bloody surprised how it got sold0 -
This is about 4 miles from me. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-31769647.html?premiumA=true
Hideous drapes in the lounge, don't like the black walls in the dining room, bathroom is just gold tacky. Though love the kitchen and conservatory.0 -

As this poster says, petals are the 'in thing'. Twigs are so passe.
