I love the fact that they need to clarify that it has 0 bedrooms, 0 bathrooms and 0 reception rooms.

I have nothing better to do on a Sunday morning than google Whitehawk :p

    http://www.chavtowns.co.uk/2004/10/whitehawk-brighton/

:T That is perfect!! Totally describes the hell hole :T Even though the article was written in 2004 nothing has changed, except the music references. Who the hell is Blazin' Squad??!!! :rotfl:

Is this some sort of subtle slight on Asda customers? If it is, get over yourself ;)
Not sure if the little winking man means you're joking (I hope so) but to be fair Asda is the nearest supermarket to Whitehawk, apart from Lidl. I've been in Asda and the majority of their customers are chavs, sorry! I'll stick to Sainsburys :)

Just to be clear I'm not saying ALL Asda shoppers are chavs just the ones I've seen

Because it will pay for itself in 10 years and thereafter everything's gravy. (The leccy company rent it from the land owner). If there's any additional land with it, possibly squeeze in a parking space or garage too?

ETA: Just seen that the lease to the leccy company runs out in 5 years, so presumably more development potential. Apparently the average estate house is built on 1/10th of an acre these days, and this site is 0.008 acres (but triangle shaped) so presumably you could squeeze a property onto it.

This is up for sale at £400k for example: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-32888698.html
You could get the main part of it (minus the downstairs bedroom and garden) on the sub station site (0.008 acres = 32.4 square meters approx).

I'd imagine the site will go for more than £5k.

This is in the Whitehawk area of Brighton. It's so bad that even the Asda deliveries won't go there and that's where the majority of their shoppers live ;). Trust me even the land isn't worth THAT much!!

So Brighton properties are really worth that? Surely not!!! This must be a joke given all that has been said!

It's surprising it is worth that much. That property has been on the market a long time and at the same price the whole time.

My good friends live in Brighton and are currently renting but want to buy and the Estate Agent sent them the details of that flat really trying to "beef" it up!

Goodness, what a nasty article. I teach some Whitehawk teenagers. They would be mortified to see this kind of comment and SOME of them ARE capable of saying a sentence that doesn't end with 'innit'.

How horrid the article is though. People can't help their upbringing and the parents in Whitehawk are just repeating what they've learned from their own growing up. :o

Thanks for the post though, LS. It does show Whitehawk at its worst and fits with the flat-for-sale post. (I'm not criticising you at all!)

By chucking in a cow? I would need some huge incentive to buy that place at that price, like a 50% reduction in price (at least) £5k in cash, a speedboat (hopefully bullseye spec) and the cow!

Sadly they are this dear, and this is one of the cheapest!! We're looking at 4-bed properties and in a decent area you're looking at around £250K plus

So you buy it own the land rent it to the elec company, then when lease is up you have a polt of land you could build a house on if planning permission etc goes through?

If not the just carry on renting out to elec company.... In short a nice little money maker....

Hmmmm now where did I stash my savings?
