The "have a look at this!" thread II

I know this isn't really what this thread is for, but I didn't want to clog up the front page, and it is pretty grim (estate agent's word!) at the moment, so I hope it will be allowed.
How put off would you keen gardeners be by the northern aspect of the back garden on this place? https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-74669252.html0 -

I actually think that’s a pretty perfect aspect. It’s almost bang on north west if the plan is accurate. Lots of the garden will be in full sun for much of the year and at the height of summer the sunset will be almost straight ahead at the bottom of the garden. You’ll be glad of the shade given by the house, both for sitting in and for plants that don’t like the midday sun.0 -

I agree with shortcrust. Our house is roughly SW/NE front/back. We still get plenty of sun at the back of our garden. We'd have a lot more if we were a bungalow!
Love that little brick shed with lots of windows on the back of the garage too - absolutely perfect for bringing on your seedlings! Bright but shaded from the heat of the sun.
Garden looks long enough to catch sun in the evening. Or you could do what we often do - sit out the front and get to chat with your passing neighbours.0 -
The aspect looks ok to me Bossypants and it must get some sun, the grass is quite dried out.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

We have a bungalow with a north-facing front garden and the shade near the property's very useful, as not all plants want to be fried all day. There isn't that much of it in summer however.
At the back, with full-on sun, we've had to plant trees and yew hedges so that many species can cope with the aspect.
Not so sure about your chalky soil there, though! :eek:0 -
Thanks everyone, I feel better now!
@ancientofdays - True, but those pictures were taken in the height of summer with no one living there to water the lawn, I'm not sure it was ever going to escape a scorching!
@Dave - True but people do seem to manage somehow, although I imagine there may be some trial and error involved!0 -

They got their money's worth out of those carpets.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
A north-facing garden is only really a problem if it is shorter than the shadow thrown by the house. That one looks way longer.0

Weirdest floorplan, but I am genuinely impressed by how many reasonably-sized rooms they've managed to cram into what at first glance looks like it should be no more than 3 beds, 4 at the outside: https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-66907930.html0

It is a good size but it's a bit of stretch to classify 'bedroom 5' on the floorplan as a bedroom considering it's separated from the living room by pair of glass doors. It's the same principle as marketing a 3 bed semi with separate living and dining rooms as a 4 bed property.0
