If you're going to stage your house for breakfast - don't forget to reset the clock...
It's lovely, but very awkward only have those small windows to get in and out of the lounge.
The wall telephone in the dining room is an interesting way of cutting your phone bill -- incoming calls only.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

I wouldn't want my 1980s car though! :eek:0 -

Did all the calls from the 1980's asking for their phone back get too much?

They may not..... or they may just a little wiser to the consumer society responding to fads and fashions, replacing perfectly serviceable "gear", ripping out clean and well maintained kitchens and bathrooms (not recently in this case, admittedly) and filling depleted land fill sites. Like you say, we may all get there one day

I remember the house opposite me where I used to live had a new bathroom suite fitted in Feb, house was sold and new people moved in Sept. The bathroom from the photos looked lovely and no expense spatted. Yet the bathroom was ripped out within 2 weeks of moving in - as saw the tiles, suite in the skip. Property was on the market a couple of years ago and the bathroom was a ghastly, impractical affair. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I know sometimes one can look at what is obviously a pretty new bathroom (or kitchen) and think "Why on earth did they choose black or a 'colour' for those tiles/worse still for those units? It's brand blimmin' new - but most of us won't have that taste and will rip it out:mad:".
EDIT; Don't look at me LOL - the bathroom and kitchen in current house badly needed to be replaced (whatever one's taste is).0 -

We have a very, very pale pink suite (Twyford's rosewater) that we had as a reaction to everything being either white or the ugly dark colours like avocado.
It is in good order and the bath is more expensive steel, but we had colour co-ordinated handles, on bath and toilet, from which the paint is beginning to chip and the acrylic side panel is reacting to sunlight.
We are in our late 60s, so need to be careful about money in the future and I don't quite know what to do (husband doesn't acre provided the facilities are clean and work properly). I like the colour as it's more gentle than white, but the handles and panel are spoiling the suite.
Do we go full circle back to white (justify the cost ?) or pay a fortune for someone to remove the bath and replace the handles with chrome (we have the handles which came with the bath ,as the pink ones were a separate order ) and install a painted MDF panel ?
Downstairs furniture is fine, as the dining suite is retro (1940s and refurbished by me, years ago), and the three piece suite is timeless leather. However, the dressing table in our bedroom has to go (mirror beginning to speckle),but the wardrobe and chest of drawers are just early 70s Schreiber and match the more recent and expensive cherrywood headboard. So is replacing the lot justified ?
Hard decisions, when you may need the money for something else, later on, but the kitchen definitely is being replaced.0
