Postage refund

I purchased a jacket from Sportstrend on Ebay, after five weeks the zip broke there was also some discolouration on the knitted cuffs and waist band, I returned the jacket, the seller eventually refunded me the price of the jacket £45 but no postage(£7.81 in total). When I queried this he responded saying according to Ebay he only needed to refund 80% of the cost of the jacket and that as he had refunded the full amount that was fair, also it was to late to have a new zip fitted, this option was never offered in the first place. If a new zip could have been fitted the discolouration was not a major issue. Is this fair result?

If you were only entitled to 80% refund (ie £36) but you got £45, then your £7.81 postage was more than refunded, so on the face of things it does look fair.0

Ask him to point out exactly where eBay state in writing that he only needs to refund 80%. I would suggest that he is talking bullocks

No it's not fair, he should have returned all costs to you and if he was in any way a decent seller he should have even returned your postage costs to send it back.
If you are still within 45 days you can still open a SNAD and let ebay make him refund the original postage, they can't make him give you your return costs back though. Did you send the jacket back by a trackable means? This might not matter in your case because he has accepted that it has been returned by part refunding you but it would help with your claim. Give ebay a call their CS is pretty good at these things.0 -
Thanks everyone I will contact Ebay, and yes I did send it by recorded delivery, thanks again.0
